I spent the entire morning away from my baby for the very first time and I handled it like a champ. Yes, this is a post where I take a second to pat myself on the back. And honestly, I think all moms should be able to do that often. Motherhood is a true labor of love, so if you fit the bill of a hardworking mama then you deserve your flowers while you can smell them.
Leading up to the day, I thought I’d be beside myself. I just knew I’d call my mom a million times and have her send me millions of pictures. Surprisingly, I only called her once. Okay maybe twice, but one of those calls was to tell her I’d be making an additional stop.
Now of course one of the key ingredients to keeping my mind at ease was the fact that my mom, someone I love and trust, was watching him. I thankfully didn’t have to hire outside help, and he was in perfectly good hands. She cared for him just like she did with me and I count it a blessing to still have her here to do so.
If you have someone who you completely trust to watch your little one, please consider taking time for yourself to go out. You’re not a bad mom if you need to leave for an hour to get your nails done. Nor are you a bad mom if you decide to grab lunch with friends. At the end of the day, you deserve it and your little one will still love you!
